Ajax will play its first official match under Francesco Farioli on Thursday evening. The Italian coach will not be able to use Owen Wijndal and Bertrand Traoré, but will otherwise have a fit squad at his disposal in the second preliminary round of the Europa League. Dies Janse looks set to start and if he gets minutes, they will be his first in the first team. The first leg against FK Vojvodina starts at 20:30 and can be seen on Ziggo Sport.

This week brought Football International the news that Remko Pasveer is most likely the new number one under the bar at Ajax. It is therefore obvious that the forty-year-old goalie will be preferred against Vojvodina over Diant Ramaj, the undisputed first choice last season.

At the back, it seems fairly certain that Devyne Rensch (right) and Jorrel Hato (left) will fill the back positions. Farioli reiterated at the press conference on Wednesday that he currently sees Hato more as a wing defender than a centre back, partly because of his attacking qualities.

That means that choices have to be made in the center. Josip Sutalo seems to be starting, but the question is who he will pair up with. Ahmetcan Kaplan was not yet in the starting line-up this preparation, but Janse was. The youngster (18) made an excellent impression in the preparation and seems to have an advantage over Kaplan given the current circumstances.

In midfield, Jordan Henderson will wear the captain's armband. Kenneth Taylor and Kian Fitz-Jim, who is also having a great preparation, seem to complete the midfield. Chuba Akpom is the striker in the absence of Brian Brobbey. The Englishman will probably be flanked by Carlos Forbs (left) and Steven Berghuis (right).

Wijndal will miss the match due to a bruise he sustained in the friendly match against Olympiacos. For Traoré, it is a matter of paperwork. The Burkina Faso striker is also not yet fully physically ready, although he is expected at training next week.

Probable Ajax line-up: feather key; Rensch, Sutalo, Janse, Hato; Henderson, Fitz-Jim, Taylor; Berghuis, Akpom, Forbs.
