Brian Brobbey will go to RB Leipzig, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano assures Thursday evening. According to the journalist, the Ajax striker has reached a personal agreement with the current number two in the Bundesliga. He is leaving Ajax free of transfer at the end of this season. The clubs involved and the Brobbey camp have not yet confirmed the transfer.

Ajax announced at the beginning of February that Brobbey did not want to extend his expiring contract and was therefore faced with a transfer. Almost immediately, the name of Leipzig fell as a potential new employer, but Ajax kept trying behind the scenes to get Brobbey to sign up. The absence of Sébastien Haller in the Europa League offered the young striker new opportunities to show himself and he did so as a substitute with goals against Lille OSC and against Young Boys on Thursday evening.

The nineteen-year-old striker was involved in six goals in 213 playing minutes this season (four hits and two assists) and thus contributed to a goal every 36 minutes. This makes him by far the most efficient Ajax player. After the duel with Young Boys, he did not want to say whether he will extend his expiring contract. “I prefer that we talk about the game,” said the striker, who can play together with Justin Kluivert at Leipzig. “I’m doing my best for Ajax anyway. That’s what I have to do, right?”

“The feeling is certainly still good. The contact with the players is really great. I can deal with everyone, that’s really great. It’s not in my head at all. I just focus on Ajax”, assured the youth exponent. Davy Klaassen is doing his best to let Brobbey stay, the midfielder said. “Every day I say that to him,” said the maker of the 1-0. “Of course. Today he shows again that we are happy with him. What he says then? Then you will never get an answer of course. I also understand that he cannot say anything about that, but we all just want him to stay. You see what he can bring. I think it would be good for him if he stays, but in the end it’s his own choice.
