Chelsea are considering approaching Julian Nagelsmann as Graham Potter’s successor, says transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano. The club leadership the Blues is still discussing the open vacancy of manager, but Nagelsmann would now be the dream candidate according to the Italian journalist. According to Romano, Chelsea is currently not busy with Mauricio Pochettino, who is also mentioned in West London according to various media.

On Sunday evening, Chelsea confirmed that Potter has been given his congé at Stamford Bridge. The 47-year-old manager was at the helm of the number eleven in the Premier League for just seven months. With his sacking, he set a record for the highest English football league: never before had thirteen managers been fired in one season. In addition to Potter, Brendan Rodgers was also fired from Leicester City on Sunday. Potter was acquired from Brighton & Hove Albion in September last year for 24 million euros.

Nagelsmann should now become Potter’s successor. The 35-year-old German was fired on March 24 and could therefore quickly return to work. However, the question is whether he likes it: Nagelsmann is said to have been tired since his resignation from Bayern Munich and would prefer not to start a new job until next summer. He also receives a big bag of money from Bayern because he had a contract until mid-2026. When he signs for Chelsea, the English club will have to talk to the record master about compensation.

Chelsea club management want to make a final decision on the club’s new manager soon. Welfare the Blues aware that this time it must be the right choice. In September, Thomas Tuchel was sacked, who, remarkably enough, is the successor to Nagelsmann at Bayern. In addition to Tuchel, Ruben Amorim is high on Chelsea’s wish list. The 38-year-old trainer of Sporting CP is only fourth in Portugal with his club, but is still active in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. In Lisbon it is still fixed until mid-2026.
