The winners of the individual Bronze Championship shields of the first period of the season in the Kitchen Champion Division have been announced. Excelsior striker Thijs Dallinga was voted best player of the first period prior to Saturday’s game against FC Emmen (0-1), in which he scored the only goal, while his teammate Stijn van Gassel received the prize for best goalkeeper. Max de Waal of Jong Ajax and Maarten Martens of Jong AZ have been chosen as the best talent and best trainer of the first period respectively.

The results of the elections for best player and best goalkeeper are based on votes from the trainers and captains of all Keuken Kampioen Division clubs and on votes from the supporters. Dallinga collected the most votes in total and therefore receives the Bronze Championship Shield as the best player. It is not the only shield that Thijs Dallinga has won, because the top scorer of Excelsior also scored the most goals in the first period (nine in total) and also receives the Bronze Championship shield as top scorer.

Van Gassel has therefore been chosen as the best goalkeeper of the first period. The Excelsior goalkeeper already won the same prize in the fourth period of the previous season and can now add a second Bronze Championship shield to his palmares. In addition to the honorary titles of best player and best goalkeeper, there are also Bronze Championship shields to be divided into the categories of best talent and best trainer. De Waal has been voted the best talent by trainers and captains on the basis of his performance at Jong Ajax in the past period.

The Bronze Championship shield for best trainer of the first period belongs to Martens. The coach, who is making his debut as a coach in professional football this season, has had an excellent first period as the leader of Jong AZ and has now been rewarded with this honorary title. The Alkmaar promises ended the period as number two behind ADO Den Haag.
