Manchester United’s line-up for the Premier League game against Brentford has been announced. Manager Erik ten Hag makes some changes and Wout Weghorst takes his base place. Jadon Sancho replaces the Dutchman, who was mainly placed in the number 10 position in the past period. The match starts at 9 p.m. Dutch time and can be seen on via play.
After taking just one point from their last three Premier League games, United have fallen to fifth place. Ten Hag’s team seems to feel the lack of Casemiro in particular, who is serving the third of his four-match suspension against Brentford. The Red Devils got some good news about another midfielder. Christian Eriksen is fit enough to resume group training after his serious ankle injury. The duel with his former employer comes too soon. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back, after he had to miss the game against Newcastle United (2-0 defeat) due to illness. Earlier this season, the previous meeting between the teams ended in a 4-0 victory for Brentford.
Brentford lost only one of his last sixteen (!) Premier League games. The team of trainer Thomas Frank therefore still has a good chance of qualifying for European football. This is partly due to striker and brand new English international Ivan Toney, who has already scored seventeen times at the highest English level this season. Frank cannot have access to Vitaly Janelt, who is on the way back from a knee injury. Frank Onyeka (hamstring), Kristoffer Ajer (calf) and Keane Lewis-Potter (knee) are also out due to injuries. Mads Roerslev has left the infirmary and is therefore available, just like Shandon Baptiste, who has returned from a suspension.
Manchester United line-up: DeGea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; McTominay, Sabitzer; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford.
