Erik ten Hag has reservations about a switch to Manchester United, report ESPN and The Times† The Ajax trainer, together with Paris Saint-Germain trainer Mauricio Pochettino, is at the top of the wish list of the English superpower, but is not taking it for the time being. Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid is therefore through the Red Devils added to the list of options, the reputable media know.

The unstable structure in the top of United is causing reticence at Ten Hag. The coach attributes his successes at Ajax to a large extent to the clearly structured organization within which he was able to work. The trainer was very attached to the close collaboration with Marc Overmars, who set out the purchasing policy until February of this year. Edwin van der Sar, as general manager, completed the trinity that propelled Ajax to great heights in recent years.

Ten Hag is in Amsterdam until mid-2023, but the coach is constantly linked to a summer exit at Ajax. The departure of Overmars is difficult for Ten Hag, he recently said. “I still have a lot of contact with him,” said the coach at a press conference. “We text and now and then we talk. You cannot cut such a bond in one go. Not personally anyway, but not functionally either. He is involved, he is the director of this team.”

Manchester United appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim manager in November to temporarily replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In the summer, a strong head coach must be recruited for the long term, but for the time being the search is not very successful. In addition to Ten Hag, Pochettino does not yet comment on the advances. The Argentine is not entirely happy at Paris Saint-Germain, but has a potential other option with Real Madrid.

Ancelotti may be leaving after one season the Royal† The Italian is well ahead in the competition, but came under fire due to the shameful display of his team in the first leg against Paris Saint-Germain (1-0 loss). Ancelotti in turn is therefore on the wish list in Manchester. Ancelotti is considered an alternative to the top candidates and, like Rangnick, would only be appointed for the short term. This would allow United to buy extra time in the search for a dream candidate. Ancelotti previously worked in the Premier League at Chelsea and Everton. He left the latter club head over heels last summer when Real knocked on the door.
