Erik ten Hag is looking forward to the renewed collaboration with Jadon Sancho at Manchester United. The manager was still unhappy with the attitude of the attacking midfielder last season, who was promptly loaned to Borussia Dortmund. Sancho has now been accepted in grace by Ten Hag.

Sancho blossomed at Dortmund, who reached the Champions League final with the Englishman in their ranks. In the final at Wembley, Real Madrid proved too strong with a 0-2 win. Sancho scored two goals and provided three assists in fourteen matches for Dortmund BVB in the Bundesliga.

He returned to Manchester United earlier this summer, without knowing whether he actually has a future at Old Trafford. Ten Hag is however prepared to give him a second chance. “We have drawn a line under it. This club needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We are now only looking at the future”, he said in an interview with Manchester Evening News.

Zirkzee

Ten Hag talks on Tuesday on the club channel of Manchester United about the signing of Joshua Zirkzee. The attacker was acquired last week for more than 40 million euros from Bologna. With Zirkzee, Ten Hag finally has the striker he so desired at his disposal.

“Joshua is a connecting player,” Ten Hag explains. “He can hold the ball, be creative, dribble and go into combinations. That's what we're looking for, a different type of player. Because especially up front we have players who are very direct in their play. They can now benefit from Joshua's qualities.”

Ten Hag is satisfied with the current selection of Manchester United. “In the last game of last season we beat the best team in the world (1-2 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, ed.). If everyone is fit, there is a good team that can reach a high level.”

“But we also know all too well that we still need a few signings,” Ten Hag hints at even more signings. “This season there are more games again, especially considering the new format of the European competitions. There is no winter break and January will undoubtedly be very busy again. So you really need a broad selection.”
