Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier between Morocco and Guinea-Bissau is at risk due to a bizarre situation. The entire selection of visitors is in the hospital, after the players very likely suffered food poisoning.

The Football Association of Guinea-Bissau has confirmed that all 25 selection players and some staff members have been admitted to a hospital in Rabat after suffering from diarrhea and vomiting during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. “I think there was something wrong with the food, it looks like food poisoning,” a football association source told Football365 Africa.

Feud with Ziyech and Mazraoui ‘will cost the head coach of Morocco’

The pressure on national coach Vahid Halilhodzic in Morocco is slowly but surely increasing.Read article

Guinea-Bissau is expected to take office in the Moroccan capital on Wednesday evening against the Lions of the Atlas. It is highly questionable whether the duel can eventually take place due to the bizarre situation. For Morocco, it would not be the first time in the current qualifying cycle that a match has been postponed. Last month, the game with Guinea was canceled due to a coup d’état in the capital Conakry.

Last week there was also a lot to do about the selection policy of the national coach of Morocco, Vahid Halilhodzic. Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui were missing from the selection for the international match against Sudan (2-0 win) last month. “If you talk, at least speak the truth,” Ziyech said on social media at the time, following Halilhodzic’s harsh statements. The national coach of Morocco again did not select the creative of Chelsea and Mazraoui for the coming international match. He stated that due to ‘a lack of discipline’ on the part of the two, he ‘had to draw a line’.
