FC Emmen can still play with EasyToys as shirt sponsor this season, the KNVB confirms on Thursday evening. After a summons and the threat of a lawsuit, the football association still bowed, concludes The Telegraph. Initially, the KNVB banned sponsorship by the erotic company, because the collaboration would be contrary to morality.

FC Emmen kept its foot stiff and, after consultation with the KNVB, got what it hoped for. According to The Telegraph the Eredivisionist did add water to the wine to a limited extent. Initially, FC Emmen had a three-year contract with EasyToys, but that is now ‘cut up’ into a contract of one plus two years. In December, the General Assembly of Paid Football will decide whether the statutes will be amended and FC Emmen can also play with EasyToys on the chest in the next two seasons.

The deal can yield FC Emmen half a million euros per year. From the outset, the KNVB was not enthusiastic about FC Emmen’s intention to join forces with the Veendam-based company, which produces sex toys. Due to the opposition from Zeist, the club put an end to the official presentation of EasyToys as the new main sponsor, because the company did not meet the guidelines that the KNVB applies with regard to sponsorship.

Due to the intervention of the KNVB, the team of trainer Dick Lukkien played without a sponsor on the shirt in the last two league matches, which caused internal dissatisfaction at the club. They did not intend to simply accept the decision: together with EasyToys, FC Emmen was considering further steps. A lawsuit was one of the possibilities, but after talks with the KNVB, the football association decided to change.
