Joël Drommel will remain with PSV for the time being. The reserve goalkeeper was according to Football International and the Eindhovens Dagblad on the lists of Valencia, Espanyol and Spezia, but the Eindhoven club refuses to let him go in the meantime. Drommel has to put up with PSV Walter Benítez this season and has little or no prospect of playing time.

Spezia saw Jeroen Zoet drop out at the beginning of January after a collision with Atalanta striker Duván Zapata. The goalkeeper has since been battling a cruciate ligament injury and is expected to be out for at least another month. Valencia is looking for a stand-in for first choice Giorgi Mamardashvili and Football International added Espanyol to Drommel’s list of admirers. However, PSV does not intend to sell the second goalkeeper this winter.

Drommel has a contract in the Philips Stadium until mid-2026, but whether he will actually fulfill his commitment is the question. Ruud van Nistelrooy it seems. to have full confidence in Benítez, who was attracted last summer. Drommel did get the chance a few weeks ago in the duel with Sparta Rotterdam (1-2) in the TOTO KNVB Cup. He then made an error with a high ball, which enabled Arno Verschueren to score the tying goal. Despite this, PSV reached the next round in the cup tournament.

PSV deposited 3.5 million euros in 2021 for Drommel, who gained the confidence of former trainer Roger Schmidt for a long time in his first season in Eindhoven. After a period with a few misses, Drommel had to make way for Yvon Mvogo, who has since left. Van Nistelrooij also has Boy Waterman and Kjell Peersman in the keepers’ guild.
