PEC Zwolle and RKC Waalwijk shared the points on Saturday evening. In a less exciting match, the low flyers in the Eredivisie held each other to a 0-0 draw. Daishawn Redan had the best chance of a hit, but the striker shot a penalty after an hour of play. PEC remains at the bottom with five points due to the result; RKC sees itself in fifteenth place with twelve points.

On his home debut as a trainer of PEC, Dick Schreuder hoped to recover somewhat from the ear washing at Feyenoord last Sunday (4-0). The visitors also hadn’t made a very good turn in the 0-5 home defeat against Ajax. The Waalwijkers initially showed themselves the most eager and came close after nine minutes. Saïd Bakari sent Jens Odgaard away and the Dane put PEC goalkeeper Kostas Lamprou to work for the first time. Shortly afterwards, PEC lost Kenneth Paal with an injury, before more than 25 minutes of football was mainly played in midfield. Paal’s replacement brought a stir again.

Luka Adzic received the ball from Mustafa Saymak and shot eye to eye with Etienne Vaessen right at the closing post. In the rebound that followed, the Serb headed on the post. Schreuder continued to urge his team to attack from the sidelines, but there was nothing more to enjoy than Adzic’s ability until the halftime signal. The game needed an impulse, which came in the 59th minute. Saymak was sent off by Siemen Voet and Ahmed Touba pulled the emergency brake: penalty. Redan had to do it for the people of Zwolle, but the striker shot sky high.

The schlemiel of PEC was unable to create much anyway and was sacrificed ten minutes later for Gervane Kastaneer. Both teams looked for victory in the remainder of the game, but had too little inspiration to make a real shot at it. The duel thus went out like a candle.
