Ajax supporters detonated fireworks and threw bottles at police officers in Dortmund, the city’s police said in a social media post. In two Dutch tweets, Ajax supporters are requested to refrain from such behaviour. The police emphasized ‘not tolerating violence’. At 9 p.m. Ajax will play against Borussia Dortmund in the group stage of the Champions League.
“A group of Ajax supporters have just detonated pyrotechnic objects and thrown bottles at police officers. We call on those responsible to refrain from doing so and to behave peacefully,” Dortmund police wrote. “Do not participate in these confrontations, follow the instructions of the police. We protect all peaceful fans and do not tolerate violence! We will act consistently against perpetrators of violence.”
