Feyenoord won 2-1 against Go Ahead Eagles in a closed practice match on Wednesday. Due to the absence of the necessary internationals, Javairô Dilrosun was given another chance by coach Arne Slot. The wing attacker repaid his coach’s trust by being responsible for Feyenoord’s entire production.

Dilrosun opened the score in the 35th minute with a nice free kick in the friendly meeting, which was not open to the public. Go Ahead did not leave it at that and leveled the score just five minutes later. After a smooth counter, it was Darío Serra who scored. Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther touched the ball, but was unable to make a save.

Even before the half-time signal, Feyenoord restored the lead and it was Dilrosun again who found the net on behalf of the Rotterdam team. So a lead for the home club halfway through the practice match against the visitors from Deventer, who were unable to clear the deficit after the break.

After the break, Slot gave a total of five youth players the opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level. However, Feyenoord created few chances in the second half and because Go Ahead did not do that either, there was no change in the 2-1 score. A minimal victory for the reigning national champion.

Cheer up
The double in the practice match is a boost for Dilrosun, who cannot count on playing time under Slot. The 25-year-old attacker, with a contract in De Kuip until mid-2026, was told last summer that he could leave. However, a new club did not present itself, so he is still a Feyenoord player.

Slot usually prefers Igor Paixão, Calvin Stengs and Alireza Jahanbakhsh on the flanks, leaving Dilrosun in a supporting role. The winger only played 36 minutes in total this season, spread over three matches in the Eredivisie and the match for the Johan Cruijff Shield, which Feyenoord lost 0-1 to PSV.

Feyenoord played against Go Ahead without several internationals. Justin Bijlow, Quilindschy Hartman, Lutsharel Geertruida, Mats Wieffer and Calvin Stengs have been called up for the Dutch national team. Dávid Hancko and Leo Sauer reported to Slovakia, while Luka Ivanusec (Croatia) and Ondrej Lingr (Czech Republic) are also preparing for European Championship qualifiers.

Ayase Ueda (Japan), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (Iran), Marcos López (Peru) and Ramiz Zerrouki (Algeria) play World Cup qualifiers with their country. Santiago Gimenez and Mexico face Honduras in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Feyenoord line-up: Wellenreuther; Nieuwkoop (78′ Valk), Beelen, Tsoungui (63′ Arnaud), Candelaria; Hokke, Van den Belt, Zekiel (78′ Hall); Sebaoui (78′ Sanyang), Paixão (63′ Giersthove), Dilrosun
