Atlético Madrid suffered a painful defeat on Wednesday evening. On a visit to RCD Mallorca, coach Diego Simeone’s team lost 1-0. In the sixteenth minute of play, Vedat Muriqi scored the only goal of the match. It is the fifth time in a row (in all competitions) that los Colchoneros failed to win.

Compared to the LaLiga game with Espanyol (1-1), Simeone made two changes. In the center back, Felipe was preferred over José María Giménez. In midfield, Geoffrey Kondogbia had to make way for Axel Witsel. Already after fifteen minutes of play, the Madrilenians faced a 1-0 deficit. Jaume Costa served Muriqi in the box, after which the striker made an effective strike. A few minutes after the opening goal, Álvaro Morata thought he would equalize, but his goal was disallowed for offside. In the remainder of the match, the Madrilenians were no longer able to break the spell, although Morata still had a good chance at the 1-1 in the final phase.
