Moise Kean will most likely not join Atlético Madrid after all. Several Italian media have reported that the rental transfer was canceled after the medical examination. Atlético believes that the attacker, who has injured his shin, will certainly be sidelined until the international break in March. Atlético initially wanted to renegotiate with Juventus, but coach Diego Simeone was against the deal after the inspection.

Kean was an attentive spectator at the Cívitas Metropolitano on Sunday during the match between Atleti and Valencia (2-0). The medical examination was scheduled for Monday evening. The Spaniards knew that Kean was injured, but during medical tests they came to the conclusion that Kean will take longer to recover from his injury than first thought.

Atlético is convinced that Kean will not be available until at least the start of the international break, in the second half of March. Juventus' medical staff actually thinks that Kean will recover faster. In Turin they are convinced that the Italian will be available in February.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, the disappointing diagnosis was not initially a reason for Atleti to cancel the deal. The Spaniards, who would pay half a million euros in rent, wanted to sit down with Juventus to renegotiate the financial terms. However, coach Diego Simeone was against the rental deal after the medical examination and made this known to the Atlético board, which then pulled the plug.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Kean is expected to board a plane to Turin on Tuesday evening. It appears that the 23-year-old Kean will finish the season at Juventus, where he will be contracted until mid-2025. However, a transfer on the final day of the transfer market cannot be ruled out.

This Serie A season, Kean played a total of 472 minutes, spread over twelve appearances. Halfway through the first half of the season, Kean was assured of a starting place six times in Serie A, but coach Massimiliano Allegri usually does not include him on the starting sheet. Allegri almost always uses a 3-5-2 system, in which Dusan Vlahovic, Kenan Yildiz, Federico Chiesa and Arkadiusz Milik normally fight for the two front spots.

Kean suffered a shin injury in early December and has not played since. AC Monza previously showed serious interest in the fifteen-time international, but that club fell behind the net after Atlético became concrete.
