Tyrell Malacia’s recovery is progressing well. The left back was back on the training field of Feyenoord for the first time on Wednesday, according to a video on the Twitter channel of the Rotterdam club. Malacia underwent hip surgery last summer and it was expected that the 21-year-old fullback would not be able to join the selection of trainer Dick Advocaat again until the winter break.

The Feyenoord technical staff hopes that Malacia can make his comeback in the main force in the first half of this season. For the left back position, Advocaat invariably chooses Ridgeciano Haps, with Ian Smeulers letting FC Dordrecht last season as a backup. A fast comeback Malacia would suit the Feyenoord coach well, because the flush is thin in defensive terms. Eric Botteghin fell out on Sunday against FC Twente (1-1) in the first half with a hamstring injury and the center-back is therefore out of circulation for a few weeks.

Lawyer had to end the employability of Sven van Beek at an earlier stage. The driver suffered a serious ankle injury in the preparation and he is normally not available for some time. Uros Spajic was recently recruited as a replacement, although he was not yet eligible to play against FC Twente. For the heart of the defense, Lawyer can also choose from George Johnston, Marcos Senesi and Lutsharel Geertruida. The latter can also work as a right back.
