Poland recorded an exhibition victory on Monday on what ultimately became a pitch-black evening. In the farewell match, national coach Michal Probierz's team was too strong for Turkey 2-1, but the team was left with a bitter aftertaste. Both Robert Lewandowski and Karol Swiderski were injured before halftime, six days before the group match with the Dutch national team.

Shortly after the twelfth minute of play, things went wrong for Poland for the first time, losing Swiderski. Remarkably, the attacker was injured while cheering after scoring the opening goal against the Turks.

After a touch from Lewandowski, Swiderski was able to easily shoot in from close range in the twelfth minute. The goalscorer celebrated with a knee slide. Swiderski then made another jump, after which the Hellas Verona player had an extremely unfortunate landing.

After half an hour, Lewandowski suddenly sat down on the grass. It is unclear what is wrong with the FC Barcelona attacker, but he was immediately replaced.

In the second half things also went wrong for the Poles on a sporting level, as Turkey leveled fifteen minutes before the end. After beautiful combination football, the ball ended up just outside the sixteen at the feet of Baris Alper Yilmaz, who hit the right corner with a hard, low slide: 1-1.

In injury time of the match, Poland still took the win. It was Nicola Zalewski who scored the 2-1 on a pass from former Feyenoord player Sebastian Szymanski.

Three days ago, Arek Milik also suffered an injury against Ukraine (3-1 win), which means that the ex-Ajax striker will have to miss EURO 2024. On Sunday, June 16, Poland will play its opening match at the European Championship against the Netherlands. Both countries are in Group D together with France and Austria.
