Feyenoord has managed to keep Mike Kleijn for the club, it reports Feyenoord Transfermarkt. The fifteen-year-old midfielder was approached several times by Ajax, according to the usually reliable transfer medium, but opts for a longer stay in Rotterdam.

Kleijn will not comment on Ajax’s advances and will soon sign his first contract with Feyenoord, it sounds. Kleijn is a left-footed central midfielder who plays in Feyenoord’s Under-18s. He has been playing in the youth academy of the Eredivisie top club since 2011, which took him over from VV Baronie at the time.

Last week it was announced that Feyenoord also keeps top talent Antoni Milambo at Varkenoord. The also fifteen-year-old midfielder signed a contract until mid-2023. Earlier this year, the team from Rotterdam saw two more talents move to Ajax. Fourteen-year-old Avery Appiah and eighteen-year-old Steven van der Sloot were tempted by the capitals to leave for Amsterdam.

Earlier, journalist Marcel van der Kraan from The Telegraph explains why young talents are sometimes open to a sensitive switch from Feyenoord to Ajax. “The answer is simple: money,” said the journalist. “Not a little more, but a whole lot more in all cases. The parents also have a voice. In the case of talents of thirteen, fourteen, fifteen years old, business observers mainly talk to the parents.”

According to Van der Kraan, Feyenoord is simply not up to the power of Ajax. “Ajax has a sloppy 200 million euros in the bank. Feyenoord has no money in the bank and works with a completely different budget. Ajax can offer players unprecedented amounts of money and his parents are impressed. The agent also smells money. Higher ones. salaries and a possible higher transfer fee in the future ensure a higher percentage of commission. “
