After the arrival of Davy Pröpper, PSV has once again made an important step with a view to the selection for next season. The Eindhoven club has broken Olivier Boscagli’s contract and extended it until mid-2025, it reports Eindhovens Dagblad Thursday. The 23-year-old defender-cum-midfielder’s previous contract ran until mid-2023.

Boscagli and PSV had already reached an oral agreement at an earlier stage, after which the club has now definitively upgraded and extended the contract. In the summer of 2019, the Frenchman made the switch from OGC Nice to the Philips Stadium for an amount of two million euros. After a difficult first season, he became an important link in Roger Schmidt’s team in the past year. The coach allowed him to play 42 times in all competitions. Boscagli mainly played in the rear last season, but also made an impression as a controlling midfielder.

Boscagli’s contract extension is the next act of technical manager John de Jong with a view to the selection in the coming years. With Joël Drommel (FC Twente), Marco van Ginkel (Chelsea), Phillipp Mwene (FSV Mainz 05), André Ramalho (Red Bull Salzburg) and Davy Pröpper (Brighton & Hove Albion), De Jong has already attracted five players. In addition, the the Dutch internationals Steven Berghuis (Feyenoord) and Luuk de Jong (Sevilla) are in the picture as reinforcements for PSV.
