Marten de Roon saved a point for Atalanta on Saturday afternoon in the absolute final phase. The midfielder, who was again used as a center defender, scored the equalizer against Lazio (2-2) deep in injury time, by shooting in a cross from Ruslan Malinovsky with a nice dropkick. It had been 399 days since De Roon had scored; that was on September 26, 2020 against Torino.
Lazio took the lead after eighteen minutes via Pedro. The Spaniard was able to tap the rebound into the goal quite easily, after Ciro Immobile’s shot was blocked by Juan Musso: 0-1. Atalanta owed it to the individual class of Duván Zapata that they equalized on the stroke of half-time. The attacker shook off Adam Marusic thanks to physical strength and shot from a difficult angle: 1-1. Fifteen minutes before the end, Immobile gave the Romans the lead again, by standing at the end of a quick counter and tapping in a low cross from Toma Basic: 1-2.
