Mino Raiola does not rule out that Matthijs de Ligt is in his last season at Juventus. The agent of the defender annex the Dutch-international talks to on Saturday Tuttosport about the future of some of the clients operating in the Serie A. The statements about De Ligt follow a day after Juventus announced that a loss of no less than 209.9 million euros was incurred in the 2020/21 financial year.

“Alessio Romagnoli can sign with Juventus because he is transfer-free at the end of the season,” Raiola told the daily about a possible switch from the AC Milan defender to Turin. “Playing together with De Ligt is an option. But it is not certain that De Ligt will stay at Juventus. He is one of the best center backs in the world. There is a possibility that he will leave Juventus at the end of the season.”

“Sometimes the transfer market just works like that,” emphasizes the Italian Dutchman, who accompanied De Ligt in the summer of 2019 during his transfer from Ajax to Juventus for an amount of 75 million euros. The defender, who turned 22 last month, signed a contract for five seasons, for an annual salary of eight million euros. That is excluding four million euros in bonuses per football year.

It is unclear why Raiola makes these statements about De Ligt. The Dutchman is also assured of a basic place under Massimiliano Allegri. Raiola may want to enforce a better contract for the defender or he may be unhappy with the course currently being sailed at Juventus. With a meager point from the first three matches in Serie A, the club, which had to leave the league title to Internazionale last season, has in any case started dramatically.

Juventus made ‘only’ ninety million euros loss in 2019/20, but as a result of the corona virus, the losses rose to more than double in the previous financial year. The current loss will be covered by the reserves that the current number sixteen of the Serie A has built up in recent years.

At the same time, Juventus is still behind the Super League project. The club from Turin still hopes fervently for the creation of the tournament. “At this point, it is not possible to predict with certainty the outcome and future development of the Super League project,” Juventus wrote in a statement on Friday. “But we are still confident in its legitimacy.”
