De Graafschap holds the joint lead in the Kitchen Champion Division. The team of trainer Reinier Robbemond won 1-2 on Sunday evening to visit Almere City FC and is therefore currently in the lead together with Excelsior. At the same time, Almere City, together with NAC Breda and FC Den Bosch, share the penultimate place, with an extremely disappointing total of nine points from ten matches.
Almere City had already failed to win four games in a row prior to the meeting with De Graafschap and partly because of this, they camped in the basement of the Keuken Kampioen Division. Despite this, the first opportunities after a probing initial phase were for the team of Gertjan Verbeek, via Stije Resink, Lance Duijvestijn and Jorrit Smeets. De Graafschap only showed themselves in the penalty area for the first time just before half-time, when a shot by Joey Konings caused few problems for goalkeeper Agil Etemadi.

The second half was only 36 seconds when Almere City took the lead. Thijs van Leeuwen brought Bram van Vlerken into position after a play on the sideline, who hit high and hard in the short corner. With 63 minutes on the clock, De Graafschap then tied the score again. Etemadi missed a pass from Julian Lelieveld, after which the ball fell at Jasper van Heertum’s feet. The center defender who came along ran the ball over the goal line.
After the equalizer, De Graafschap took over the initiative, although initially this did not result in any opportunities. The Super farmers eventually left Almere with a victory. With eleven minutes to play, substitute Danzell Gravenberch produced a shot that came in front of Lelieveld via Etemadi. The captain of De Graafschap scored the 1-2 in front of an empty goal and apparently in an offside position. Substitute Jonas Arweiler had a good chance to equalize in injury time, but saw his shot blocked.
