Frank de Boer will change the line-up of the Dutch national team for Wednesday evening’s game with Poland in the Nations League. The national coach of Orange announced during the press conference on Tuesday afternoon that he opted for ‘fresh legs’ in the last group match. During the press moment, De Boer also told why he has not called up a replacement for Ryan Babel, who is staying behind in the Netherlands due to a positive corona test.

The KNVB reported on Tuesday morning that the Orange squad will travel to Poland with 22 players after Babel’s positive test. Why De Boer does not call for a replacement for the Galatasaray attacker? “You then look at that position and then I think: if I put up figure ‘A’ and then put figure ‘B’, will that be the one I call up? Well I don’t think so. We have other options to put there. To have someone enter the corona bubble again does not seem sensible to me. ”

De Boer emphasizes that he has a fit selection. “Yes, anyone can play”, said the national coach, who will not play with the same line-up as against Bosnia & Herzegovina. “No, because I want fresh legs in my team. Who? We will see that tomorrow, but there are fresh legs. ” With a view to qualifying for the Final Four of the Nations League, the Netherlands must win and hope that Italy will lose points against Bosnia & Herzegovina. “We are not in control. We have to make sure that we take three points and hope that Italy slips. ”

The choice lord does not think that Italy will lose points if they play like against Poland. “When you see how they play, that’s really, really good. But these are different circumstances. We are going to do everything we can to tackle three points. We should not think afterwards: we had better done our best. ” Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski may be missing against Poland. “He is perhaps the best striker in the world at the moment. So if he isn’t there, it’s bad for Poland and not bad for us. But you always want to play against the strongest teams. I don’t know what’s going on there, but we’ll see. ”
