Third place in group D does not seem to do any harm to the Dutch national team. Because of this ranking, the Dutch team will play Romania in the eighth finals on Tuesday and the rest of the way to a possible final also seems relatively favourable. Databurea Gracenote Sports now ranks Ronald Koeman's selection among the three biggest favorites for the final victory.

According to the company, Spain is currently the main contender to walk away with the European Championship title. The Southern Europeans have a 17 percent chance of winning the tournament.

Germany follows in second place with 12.8 percent. Both Spain and the host country managed to perform convincingly in the group stage on several occasions, something that does not necessarily apply to number three on this list.

The Netherlands follows third, with an 11.6 percent chance of overall victory. Gracenote therefore estimates the chances of Ronald Koeman and co to be greater than those of France, England, Portugal, Italy and Belgium, among others.

Presumably, the Dutch team is not considered to have such a chance because of the game shown, but because of its favorable position in the European Championship schedule. Due to the third place in group D, the Netherlands will face a group winner, but since Romania managed to take first place in group E, Koeman's men could certainly have done worse.

If the Dutch team leaves the Romanians behind, a duel will follow in the quarter-finals with the winner of the meeting between Austria and Turkey. The other four countries on the Dutch side of the schedule are England, Slovakia, Switzerland and Italy.

In this way, the Dutch team avoids the necessary top countries until the final, if it is reached. It is certain that the Netherlands will only be able to meet Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and Portugal in a possible final battle.
