Barcelona have successfully appealed against a judge’s ruling that reversed Gavi’s registration with La Liga. The Spanish champion no longer has to fear that the departure clause in the new contract of the eighteen-year-old midfielder will be activated. Barcelona’s top talent is committed to the Spotify Camp Nou until the summer of 2026.

Gavi signed a new contract at the beginning of this year, as a reward for the stormy development he has undergone at Barcelona. However, this multi-year contract was soon declared invalid by a Spanish judge after protests from LaLiga. The organizer of the competition in Spain refused to approve the deal because Barcelona had violated financial rules with its salary household.

The judge issued a new ruling this Tuesday, allowing Barcelona to register Gavi after all. If the court decision had been negative for the Catalans, the midfielder would have been transfer-free from June 30. The management of the nineteen-time international of Spain had included in the contract that the commitment would be void if registration for LaLiga had proved impossible. The provision is no longer in force and nothing stands in the way of registration.

The contract signed earlier this year is officially valid and Gavi is linked to Barcelona for at least another three seasons. The agreement between club and player includes a fixed transfer fee of one billion euros. Gavi was a fixed value in coach Xavi’s team as a right midfielder last season. The acclaimed talent ends the championship year with 36 appearances in LaLiga, scoring twice and providing four assists.
