Real Madrid is struggling with an outbreak of the corona virus. Following Luka Modric and Marcelo, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Rodrygo, reserve goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and assistant coach Davide Ancelotti also tested positive, the club confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

Wednesday morning brought the Royal already out that Modric and Marcelo had tested positive. They, like the foursome who now also have corona, are expected to miss the competition matches against Cádiz (home, December 19) and Athletic Club (away, December 22). The first match after the turn of the year will visit Getafe on 2 December.

Because there seems to be a serious outbreak, a postponement of the next competition matches cannot be ruled out. Of the people with corona, Modric and Asensio had a base place in the last league match against Atlético Madrid (2-0 win) on Sunday. Bale, Rodrygo, Marcelo and Lunin were on the bench, although Rodrygo did fill in.
