Latest update:

Sjors Blaauw protected his account on X during half-time of the SC Heerenveen – Feyenoord match (2-3 result) on Sunday afternoon. The ESPN commentator seems to be responding to the many negative reactions he received on the platform about his report of the Eredivisie match.

Feyenoord supporters are complaining en masse about Blaauw, who in their view gave an overly colored report of the match. “ESPN, for all fans, but with a Feyenoord hater as a commentator,” says one of them. “Do something different for once, ESPN.”

Blaauw was critical of Santiago Gimenez in the opening phase. The Feyenoord striker tried to score a penalty with an obvious trick dive. “A yellow card would have been appropriate for Gimenez,” said the commentator. “Well seen from referee Dennis Higler.”

Although Gimenez was absolutely not hit by Sven van Beek and it was clearly a fluke, Blaauw's comment did not go down well with Feyenoord fans.

“ESPN has found another commentator, fortunately he is also clearly anti-Feyenoord. What a whiner. 'Gimenez should get a yellow card and be suspended'.”

The other dozens of responses to X about Blaauw have a similar meaning. “Can you remove this Feyenoord hater as a commentator?” asks a certain Michiel. “Everyone knows what preference you all have, and that your favorite club doesn't mean a thing this year.”

“Should Feyenoord be bashed for 90 minutes? I'll pay for this.”

Blaauw seems to have experienced the unprecedented storm of criticism during the break. At the start of the second half, his account on X was no longer accessible to the public.
