Myron Boadu did not have a happy debut for AS Monaco on Friday evening. The twenty-year-old striker was surprisingly preferred over Wissam Ben Yedder, but missed a great opportunity and saw the duel with Nantes end in a 1-1 draw as a result. The French media are quite critical of Boadu’s performance, who has to make do with a rating of 3 or 3.5.

Foot Mercato gives Boadu a 3.5 for his performance against Nantes. “It was a difficult debut for the Monaco signing. Boadu could have distinguished himself quickly for his new team, but failed conspicuously,” the French medium points out to Boadu’s missed opportunity after seven minutes of play. He intercepted a wrong pass from Ludovic Blas and passed goalkeeper Alban Lafont, but then shot wildly over with his left. “The Dutch striker was rarely found and clearly still has to find his place.”

Maxi foot comes to the same assessment for Boadu. “A conclusion could soon be drawn: he has a lot of potential, but is sloppy. His speed and passing is promising. Only he wasn’t precise enough in the penalty area.” Boadu was replaced by Ben Yedder after 58 minutes of play. L’Equipe and Monaco Grandstand are harder in their judgment for Boadu, because they give him a 3.

“Boadu was clumsy during his first appearance for Monaco,” he said Monaco Grandstand. Trainer Niko Kovac protects debutants Boadu, Alexander Nübel, Ismail Jakobs and Jean Lucas somewhat afterwards. “They are a bit behind their teammates because they have only just joined the club. They got a chance to start in the first home game, but they can do better. I’m glad to see them in action.”
