Henk de Jong will be back for the group at SC Cambuur from Wednesday, the Frisians announced through official channels. The 59-year-old trainer is the successor to Sjors Ultee, who was suspended on Monday.

“This will not be a surprise to anyone and it is indeed very logical that we as a club end up with the most successful head coach in club history,” says Etiënne Reijnen, Cambuur’s technical director.

“Henk is available, he is still under contract with the club and he is also eager to get back to work.”

De Jong has already been head coach for the group at Cambuur twice before. Almost a year ago, he was forced to take a rest due to health reasons and left.

In March, the trainer was successfully operated on a cyst in his head and De Jong has now been declared fully fit again by the doctors.

The coach won the Kitchen Champion Division three times with Cambuur, while he is also responsible for the highest final ranking in the Eredivisie in club history and the points record.

It is now up to De Jong to achieve new successes with the club, which is currently in disappointing eleventh place in the Kitchen Champion Division. The Frisians lost the last three games in a row. The defeat at FC Dordrecht (5-2) last weekend meant the end of Ultee.
