Club Brugge is still going to break its own transfer record after the arrival of Mohamed Daramy, who eventually moves from FC Copenhagen to Ajax. According to the Tuesday edition of The last news the Belgian top club is about to complete the arrival of Kamal Sowah for an amount of nine million euros. The 21-year-old Ghanaian already has a history on the Belgian fields.

A year ago, Club Brugge already showed concrete interest in Sowah, who signed a contract with Leicester City on his eighteenth birthday in 2018, but was rented out to Belgian sister club Oud-Heverlee Leuven for the first two and a half years. An asking price that was too high caused the people of Bruges to drop out. “We just didn’t laugh away”, general manager Vincent Mannaert noted at the time in Sports Football Magazine.

After a strong 2020/21, scoring 8 goals in 34 games, Sowah returned to Leicester. He hoped to take new steps in his career, but a place in the senior squad with manager Brendan Rodgers was not in it and now he is still facing a transfer to Bruges. The amount of nine million euros means a record transfer for Club Brugge. The current record is held by David Okereke. The purchase of eight million euros hopes to revive his career at Venezia, on a rental basis.

In recent years, Sowah helped OH Leuven to be promoted to the highest division in Belgium and was also one of the revelations there. In total, Sowah was good for 13 goals and 10 assists in 72 games for the merger club. Breaking into the Premier League remained his big dream all along. “Finally I got to put on the Leicester shirt,” he boasted on Instagram this summer after playing time in an exhibition game.
