Chelsea booked a convincing win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday evening. The Premier League match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was only broken open after the break and ended in 0-3 by goals from Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rüdiger. It was the fourth win of the season for the Blues, who have thirteen points and move on to second place in the ranking. The team of manager Nuno Espirito Santo occupies seventh place in England with nine points.

In contrast to the won Champions League match with Zenit Saint Petersburg, Hakim Ziyech had to settle for a place on the bench this time. With that, Tuchel made room for Kai Havertz, who formed the attack trio with Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount. Furthermore, Thiago Silva was given a starting place in the heart of the three-man defense and replaced Kepa Arrizabalaga
the injured Edouard Mendy under the bar. At Tottenham Hotspur, Steven Bergwijn was missing. The wing attacker was injured before half-time in the Conference League game against Stade Rennais and is sidelined for an unknown time with an ankle injury.

In the first act, the tempo of the ball was high and the game waved up and down, although the number of great chances played was few. After fifteen minutes of play, Chelsea had a good opportunity to score the opening goal. Mount crossed half the field and saw Lukaku in a promising position, but the final pass was not good enough to give the Belgian striker an attempt at shooting: the attack nipped in the bud. The biggest chance for Tottenham from the first company came after 33 minutes of play. Giovani Lo Celso delivered a nice through ball to Son Heung-min, who, however, came out wrong with his steps after an unfortunate assumption and encountered Hugo Lloris.

For the first time since Tuchel’s appointment, Chelsea failed to score a shot on target in the first half of a Premier League game. The manager went looking for more control after the break and brought Mount to the side in favor of Kante. That substitution had the desired effect, as the scoreboard already showed a 0-2 score more than ten minutes later. The 0-1 came from the head of Thiago Silva, who headed convincingly from a corner by Marcos Alonso. The second goal was scored by Kante.

The midfielder fired on the enemy goal from about 25 meters. His shot was deflected by Eric Dier in such a way that the ball ended up out of reach of Lloris in the bottom right corner: 0-2. In the closing quarters, Thiago Silva had the opportunity to make his second of the evening in almost identical fashion, but this time Tottenham’s closing post was able to save the day. Succeeded in the rest of the match the Spurs no more trying to force a breakthrough. In the end Chelsea managed to score. In the 92nd minute Rüdiger put the 0-3 final score on the scoreboard on a pass from Timo Werner.
