Martin Mos, the chairman of De Graafschap, has flown out of the bend on Friday evening. After the hard-fought victory over Telstar (1-2), which was enough to win the period title in the Kitchen Champion Division, Mos aimed his arrows at NAC Breda trainer Maurice Steijn via Twitter. “YES !!!! love my club !!! fuck steijn!”, Tweeted Mos.

The dissatisfaction at Mos stems from the upcoming transfer of Ralf Seuntjens to competitor NAC Breda. On Monday, when the switch was not yet settled, Steijn said in front of the camera ESPN that he had every confidence in the arrival of Seuntjens. Mos called that statement ‘very inappropriate’. Seuntjens then announced his retirement himself. He does finish the season in Doetinchem, despite resistance from the hard supporters core, but had to give up his captaincy to Ted van de Pavert.

After winning the period title, Mos was not in control of his emotions. On Saturday morning he speaks a little more nuanced. “Woke up again, great feeling, no good football, but the points, nicest: we did not let ourselves be fooled! Except myself at 11 pm yesterday! Discharge of a county fan”, the chairman explains. NAC responded with indignation to Mos’s statement.

General director Mattijs Manders responds to the president’s tweet on Saturday morning. “I have an excellent relationship with Hans Martijn Ostendorp, director of De Graafschap. Supporters of our clubs also have a good relationship. We will also receive De Graafschap with all respect in Breda”, Manders refers to the mutual match on 28 March. “But I have difficulty with a chairman who expresses himself in this way.”
