Following Werder Bremen, Celtic is also seriously interested in Giorgios Giakoumakis. According to the Daily Record Ange Postecoglou, the Greek-Australian trainer of Celtic, has personally contacted the Greek striker of VVV-Venlo. Postecoglou has told Giakoumakis about the sporting plans he has with the club and with the top scorer of the last Eredivisie season.

Celtic can at least offer Giakoumakis European football. The top club from Scotland will play against AZ in the last preliminary round of the Europa League on Wednesday and next week and will play in the group stage of the Conference League in the event of a defeat this season. On Tuesday, Giakoumakis told VVV official channels that he hopes to leave. “I hope for the sake of this club and for my own interest that I will no longer be here after September 1,,” said the sniper, for whom VVV is reportedly asking for an amount of five million euros.

On Monday, VVV general director Marco Bogers confirmed that Werder Bremen is seriously in the market; VVV expects an offer from the club relegated to the 2.Bundesliga soon. Venezia, Boavista and PFK Sochi were previously mentioned as candidates, while FC Basel would also have been interested. However, the Swiss top club has not yet continued. “I’ve had some offers and have yet to think about them. I’ll have to make a decision and I think this will happen soon,” said Giakoumakis himself.

Celtic are anticipating a departure from Odsonne Édouard, who scored 56 goals in 92 league games for the Bhoys since he came over from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. Last month Celtic refused an offer of more than 20 million pounds, or more than 23.5 million euros, from Brighton & Hove Albion. It is therefore questionable whether Édouard will leave, but because his contract expires in mid-2022, Celtic hopes to strengthen itself with a striker.
