Eden Hazard wants to leave Real Madrid in January, Sacha Tavolieri claims. The Belgian journalist, who Red Devils follows on behalf of RMC Sports, writes on Twitter that both his medical and his sporting situation are improving the Royal drive the 31-year-old attacker toward the exit. At the same time, there is currently a lot of going around on social media about how Hazard stands with a glum face in the team photo after the win of the Supercopa.

Real Madrid won the Supercopa by successively beating Barcelona (2-3, after extra time) and Athletic Club (0-2). Hazard played no role in either match, as coach Carlo Ancelotti kept him on the reserve bench for 90 minutes against both Barcelona and Athletic. Hazard was apparently very dissatisfied with that, as he was captured with a glum face in the team photo during the Supercopa celebration. In addition, Hazard was the only Real Madrid player not to wear his medal.

Within Real Madrid, the technical leadership and medical staff would not be on the same page about Hazard. The medics want the attacker to undergo another surgery in the short term, while President Florentino Perez wants him to play football during this period to ensure that he would play in the spotlight. Ancelotti, however, kept Hazard on the bench for 90 minutes in the last three official games – in addition to the duels in the Supercopa and the encounter with Valencia in LaLiga. Hazard generally does not have to count on a base place under the Italian coach this season: he has played 722 minutes so far, spread over 16 games.

Hazard would now have had enough and has set his sights on a departure. This threatens to end the unhappy marriage between Hazard and Real Madrid. The Spanish superpower paid 115 million euros in the summer of 2019 to release the 116-time Belgian international from Chelsea, but in Madrid he was never able to meet the high expectations, partly due to various injuries. So far, Hazard has only played 59 official games for Real Madrid, scoring 5 goals and providing 10 assists. His contract runs until mid-2024 and Spanish media warn that interested clubs will be limited this month.
