Top players, but also clubs from home and abroad, provide an insight into the ins and outs of the football world (almost) every day via Instagram, X or other internet channels. In this edition of VZ Social, attention is paid to carnival celebrant Sep Veldhuis, who was in for a pleasant surprise in Oldenzaal.

It probably hasn't escaped your notice: Carnival is currently being celebrated in the Netherlands. Although North Brabant is known as the largest party province, there is also plenty to do in Overijssel.

So finds in Boeskoolstad Oldenzaal hosts the annual Great Twente Carnival Parade. As Instagrammer Sep Veldhuis (@sepveldhuis) recorded, there were senior visitors present.

Instagrammer @sepveldhuis found high-ranking visitors during the carnival in Oldenzaal.

On his Story, Sep posts a photo with Michel Vlap and Mitchell van Bergen, among others, who have exchanged their normal clothes for a carnival outfit. An earlier photo by Van Bergen himself showed that Vlap was dressed as Luigi, the brother of gaming icon Mario.

There was certainly reason for celebration among the Twente players. Joseph Oosting's team left Excelsior's Van Donge & De Roo Stadium with a 0-3 victory on Saturday. It was a slightly bad evening for Van Bergen: the winger was kept on the bench for the entire match by Oosting.

For the third season in a row, Twente is once again competing for the top four places. It is now third, five points behind number two Feyenoord.

If Twente overtakes the national champions, it will qualify directly for the Champions League group stage. It would be the first time in thirteen years that the Tukkers will play a match in the billion dollar ball again.
