Carlos Tevez will announce his final farewell to Boca Juniors on Friday, according to various Argentine media. The 37-year-old striker has postponed his vacation to Miami to announce his departure from the Argentine top club. In the presence of vice president Juan Román Riquelme and trainer Miguel Ángel Russo, Tévez organizes a specially scheduled press conference. It will be his third farewell to Boca for the Argentinian, having left the club in 2004 and 2016.

Among other things TyC Sports reports Friday that Tévez will announce his third and final farewell to his childhood sweetheart. The attacker started his professional career as a sixteen-year-old at Boca and last season shot the club personally to the national title in the Argentine league. His retirement does not mean that he is putting an end to his career as a footballer, as there is a chance that Tévez will still start a new adventure. Argentine media does not rule out the possibility that he will continue his career in Major League Soccer.

Reportedly, two clubs are eager for the services of the 76-time international of Argentina. Both Atlanta United and David Beckham’s Inter Miami would like to tempt Tevez to move to the United States. At the latter club, Tevez could form an attacking duo with Gonzalo Higuain, with whom he also played for the national team. The announced press conference will start at 6:00 PM local time (11:00 PM in the Netherlands). Argentine media write that the difficult relationship between Tévez and Riquelme, who is attached to the club as vice president, is the basis for the decision.

Tevez’s contract with Boca officially runs until December 2021, but the attacker has had an escape clause included that allows him to retire early in June. So he uses that. After his father Segundo Raimundo Tévez died in February, the attack leader went through a tough time mentally and physically. In addition to Boca, Tevez played for Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, among others. He played on behalf of Argentina at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, played the Copa América four times and won gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
