Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe balanced each other on Sunday evening. In the Türk Telekom, both teams did not score: 0-0. For Galatasaray, the draw meant the first loss of points of the new season, while Fenerbahçe is on five points after three matches. The game was marked by yellow cards: referee Ali Palabiyik grabbed the shirt pocket eleven times in total. Galatasaray took eight cards and four players from Fenerbahçe were banned. 0-0 was not an unexpected result: In total, five of the last ten head-to-head matches in the Süper Lig ended in a goalless draw.

Galatasaray started working on the squatter without Dutch input. Ryan Babel and Ryan Donk started on the bench; Twenty minutes before time, Babel came in to replace Sofiane Feghouli on the right flank. Unlike in the first two games of the season, no starting place was reserved for Ferdi Kadioglu at Fenerbahçe. The young winger made his entrance twelve minutes before time as a replacement for the Dutch-Turkish Deniz Türüç.

The visitors tried to become dangerous in the first half, especially from crosses. Fenerbahçe brought the ball in front of goal 18 times in the first 45 minutes; Galatasaray did that 7 times. There were opportunities for both teams, but there were no goals. Midway through the second half, Arda Turan was close to the opening goal for Galatasaray. The midfielder pulled in from the left flank; his swipe was slightly touched by Mauricio Lemos, making keeper Altay Bayindir look insecure and narrowly saved.

After his raid, Babel immediately left a good impression. The winger was actively involved in the search for the opening goal. A few minutes after his entrance, he already delivered a sharp through ball to Emre Kilinc, who then bumped into goalkeeper Bayindir in the short corner. Kadioglu had another painful and unfortunate moment when Christian Luyindama accidentally stood on his hand, but the Dutchman was able to finish the match.
