SC Cambuur has booked the second consecutive victory in the Eredivisie. The team of trainer Henk de Jong was 5-2 too strong for another PhD student, Go Ahead Eagles, on Saturday evening. The Frisians cleared the 0-1 from the Deventer visitors on the stroke of half-time and ran out to a big win in no time. Cambuur only scored more than four goals in an Eredivisie match for the second time since 1993. De Jong used the final phase to let Maxim Gullit, Filip Krastev and Johndly van der Meer make their first minutes in the Eredivisie.

Cambuur, which two weeks ago had won 2-0 against FC Twente at home, and Go Ahead kept each other well balanced in the first half. After seven minutes, the home side got away well when a free kick by Justin Bakker hit the bottom of the bar hard. More than ten minutes later, Cambuur also got the ball on the aluminum: Mees Hoedemakers hit the leather on the outside of the post.

The devil of the first half was in the final minutes before the break. In the 37th minute the 0-1 appeared on the scoreboard. Bas Kuipers cleverly headed the ball back to Luuk Brouwers and the midfielder shot the ball in with his outside. Cambuur leveled the score on the stroke of half-time. Issa Kallon gave a measured cross to Tom Boere and the attacker headed the ball perfectly into the goal behind Warner Hahn: 1-1.

Nothing seemed to indicate that Cambuur would have an easy second half, but after 57 minutes of play, the score was still 4-1. After a misstep by Kuipers, Boere was not trumped by Hahn and made the 2-1 from a difficult angle. Not much later it became 3-1: Robin Maulun cut a free kick perfectly and Marco Tol headed the ball into the far corner. After less than an hour of play, Jamie Jacobs completed a perfect attack from the northerners: 4-1.

Cambuur was 5-1 fifteen minutes before the end, partly thanks to a misstep by Bakker. He handed in the ball just like that and substitute Tamas Kiss made his first goal for the Frisians. Debutant Iñigo Cordoba in turn scored his first goal for Go Ahead two minutes later by heading in after a free kick by Bakker. Cambuur, which has six points from four matches, is waiting for an away game with Ajax in a week. Go Ahead, which has three points, will play the IJsselderby in-house against PEC Zwolle next Sunday.
