SC Cambuur did good business in the Eredivisie on Friday evening. On a visit to Willem II, the Tilburgers were put aside with 1-3 without too many problems, led by acting trainer Pascal Boseloos. Before the game, the Leeuwarders honored the sick Henk de Jong by shirts with the text In Henk we trust to show. SC Cambuur rises again to a handsome fourth place in the ranking due to the victory; Willem II remains in thirteenth place.

Without head coach De Jong, who is struggling with a cyst, the visitors almost got the 1-0 after ten minutes. Görkem Saglam shot at Sonny Stevens from close range, but the closing post managed to tap the ball over. Cambuur then took the initiative. Timo Wellenreuther single-handedly kept Willem II going by disabling attempts by Roberts Uldrikis, Issa Kallon and Calvin Mac-Intosch; four minutes later, the German even had to intervene at a bad pass from Ulrik Jenssen. The 0-1 was in the air, but it would not come before the halftime signal.

Four minutes after the break, the Leeuwarders had more luck. Cambuur steamed up very quickly after Mats Köhlert lost the ball and got the ball via Kallon at Uldrikis. The Let showed himself cool and shot with precision into the right corner: 0-1. Willem II woke up briefly and appeared dangerously for Stevens a number of times. However, on the other hand, Alex Bangura was put down in the enemy penalty area: penalty. Robin Maulun took his place behind the leather and shot in through Wellenreuther’s hands for the 0-2.

Fred Grim’s team tried to reduce the tension and got opportunities through Max Svensson and Argyris Kampetsis, before Godfried Roemeratoe finally scored the connecting goal: 1-2. Cambuur was not satisfied with that and eventually widened the margin to two. Mitchel Paulissen was the maker and Cambuur returned to fourth place after the earwash against Vitesse last week (1-6).
