Burak Yilmaz has spoken out in a major interview about all the stories that are doing the rounds about him. The Turkish striker of Fortuna Sittard would determine the line-up, ensured that Sjors Ultee was fired, argued with striker trainer Frank Demouge and paid profit premiums. “It’s all lies,” Yilmaz tells ESPN.

The resignation of Ultee, who was succeeded by Julio Velázquez, also came as a surprise to Yilmaz. “That’s a decision made by the club board. After all, I’m just an employee here. Above me are the chairman, the technical director and also the owner. Those are the people who went over it. It’s a decision that does nothing. had to do with me and sometimes can happen in football.”

Yilmaz also dismisses the stories about the disturbed relationship between the 37-year-old Turk and the technical staff and the determination of the line-up as sheer nonsense. “I’ve never made a line-up before. The fact that people say that is shameful. That’s especially very disrespectful to the coaching staff. I would decide everything here and they even talked about race premiums that I would pay out of my own pocket. It is very embarrassing, also towards the chairman and the technical director.”

The Fortuna attack leader, who scored four times and provided an assist in his first seven games in the Eredivisie, hopes it will soon be over with all the rumors circulating about him. “I wish stories like this didn’t exist and I can say with certainty that everything is a lie. I’m bummed about all the messages, but it’s also impossible to answer everything. I can’t keep saying everything is not true .”
