Serhou Guirassy is in danger of missing out on his transfer to Borussia Dortmund. The striker from Guinea seemed to have already arrived at his new employer, but an injury was discovered during the medical examination.

At the end of last month, Florian Plettenberg reported that Guirassy's transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund was as good as completed. The journalist from Sky Sport was right, as only the medical examination could throw a spanner in the works.

The examination rarely causes problems, but this time it did. “During a medical examination of Serhou Guirassy, an injury was discovered that requires further clarification,” the club said in a statement.

According to BILD Guirassy sustained the injury during international duties with Guinea. Guirassy has not yet recovered from his injury and therefore the transfer is far from a done deal at the moment.

In consultation with Markus Braun, Dortmund's physiotherapist, it has now been decided to second opinion to request before further conclusions are drawn as to whether or not the transfer will go ahead.

Dortmund currently expect the transfer to go ahead, but Guirassy must successfully pass the following medical check.

If the transfer does go through, Dortmund will bring in Guirassy, one of the absolute Bundesliga sensations of last season. The 28-year-old attacker scored no less than 28 Bundesliga goals last season, with only Harry Kane (36) having to give way.
