Bryan Linssen hopes to end his career at VVV-Venlo, he says in an interview with Football International† The 31-year-old Feyenoord attacker expects ‘to continue for another five or six years’. Before he returns to the club where he played in the youth academy and was also active between 2010 and 2013, Linssen hopes to be able to embark on another adventure abroad.

“I grew up in that club. I was two years old when my brother (Edwin, now assistant coach at Roda JC Kerkrade, ed.) started playing there. Later I came to play soccer myself. I know every place there, I still have contact with the people who work there. It’s my second home. So if you talk about a circle, it would be complete when I close at VVV”, Linssen says about his relationship with VVV. He played in the youth of VVV, made his debut in professional football with Fortuna Sittard and returned to Venlo via MVV Maastricht.

Through Heracles Almelo, FC Groningen and Vitesse, Linssen ended up at Feyenoord a year and a half ago. The attacker chose a switch to Rotterdam over a lucrative contract in Dubai. “I am not only guided by money. Feyenoord was for me the club that would complete my career in the Netherlands. Fortuna Sittard-VVV-Venlo-Heracles Almelo-FC Groningen-Vitesse; there was a nice build-up and Feyenoord tops it off. Still that top club for which I have always wanted to play.”

“Had I gone abroad, it would have felt unfinished. My ambition and sense of honor were worth more than money. I just wanted to know if I could also make it at this level,” continues Linssen, who has so far scored 14 goals and 9 assists in 35 official games this season. He hopes to be able to embark on a foreign adventure in the coming years. “After this season I have another year at Feyenoord, then it would be possible, although I will of course leave all options open here. I feel so fit that I plan to continue for another five or six years.”
