Bruno Fernandes believes there is too much searching behind an innocent post by the Manchester United midfielder on social media. It was suggested that a photo he posted with a caption on social media could be interpreted as an attack on United captain Harry Maguire. There has been much written in English media in recent weeks about alleged unrest behind the scenes at Old Trafford. Fernandes believes that people wrongly ‘question everything’ at the Red Devils

Recently, there has been much speculation about divisions in United’s dressing room, with calls for Cristiano Ronaldo to become the new captain’s name growing louder. Fernandes fueled the fire when he shared a photo on his Instagram account of him training with Eric Bailly and Raphaël Varane. The Portuguese captioned it that he “felt very safe” between the two centre-backs who are rivals to Maguire.

After Fernandes saw that his innocent post caused quite a stir, he had to express his irritation towards Premier League Productions† “Honestly, I think people are questioning everything about this club,” said the midfielder. “Every week a new story is made up about something different. I posted a photo on Instagram where I was with Raphaël Varane and Eric Bailly and captioned it: ‘I feel very safe in the middle of these two.’ I meant ‘security’ in the sense that they are my bodyguards when someone threatens me. And people are complaining that this was an attack on Maguire.”

“But Maguire was not the only defender who was not in the photo,” said Fernandes. In addition to the United captain, the central defenders Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones were also missing from the photo posted by the Portuguese. “People want to complain and stories around us but the most important thing is that we continue to unite and do our job on the pitch and if we don’t win it’s not because maguire or i don’t play well it’s because the team isn’t playing well and not in the right way In our dressing room, we don’t blame each other, it’s about understanding how to get out of bad situations.”

The Daily Mirror reported last week that there is a power struggle in United’s dressing room. The English newspaper reported that interim manager Ralf Rangnick has held talks with Ronaldo and Maguire about who should wear the captain’s armband at United for the rest of the season. Maguire then took to Twitter to know that there is nothing true of the story. “I’ve seen a lot of reports about Manchester United that aren’t true and this is one of them. I am not supposed to respond to everything that is written, but I wanted to be clear about this. We are united and the focus is on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone,” Maguire wrote on Twitter in response to the strip newspaper’s story.
