Borussia Dortmund will not play in cup tournaments next season in a shirt that was leaked last week. On the website Todo Sobre Camisetas, a blog about football club shirts, a striking jersey was published that would be worn next season in the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal. Borussia Dortmund does not say whether the design was correct, but indicates in a tweet that a different version is being worked on.
“Dear BVB supporters: your criticism of the cup shirt has arrived. The jersey will not look like the leaked version. Please have a little more patience,” writes Borussia Dortmund. The leaked shirt was fluorescent green, deviating from the traditional yellow color. This season, a fluorescent green color is used only in the sleeves of the away shirt. A lot more ‘revolutionary’, however, was that the club logo was completely missing and the word ‘Dortmund’ was in the center of the chest. Above that, the logo of sponsor Puma was centered.
Just like this season in cup tournaments, chemical company Evonik was on the design. In cup tournaments Borussia Dortmund plays with Evonik’s name on the shirt, while the logo of telecom company 1 & 1 is on the shirt in league matches. According to the leaked draft, Borussia Dortmund would again play with black shorts. Both stockings would have a yellow-black striped design.
Through Footy Headlines and Todo Sobre Camisetas Designs of the alleged home and away jersey for next season were also published in the past week. The home shirt would differ from the current season, partly because the sleeves have a black and white motif and the rest of the shirt is evenly yellow. This is only the case for the cup shirt this season, while the competition shirt has diagonal black stripes. Next season’s away shirt is said to be predominantly black with gray lines; this season the away shirt is gray with fluorescent green sleeves.
