Kasper Dolberg is in the picture at Borussia Dortmund, reports Sports1. The Danish striker of OGC Nice is one of the candidates in a summer departure from Erling Braut Haaland. Dortmund does not want to lose Haaland, but is already mapping out any successors.

Dortmund director Hans-Joachim Watzke recently announced that it is not yet certain whether Haaland will leave after this season. “We just have to see it. The key is with Erling. But if he leaves, one thing can be counted on: we’ll get another one,” said Watzke. Dortmund wants to invest part of the proceeds from Haaland in a replacement. Due to a clause in the contract of the 21-year-old Norwegian striker, he can be collected in the middle of next year for an amount of 75 to 90 million euros.

According to Sports 1 a total of thirty scouts on behalf of Dortmund are looking for a new striker. They fish in a pond of Spitz between the ages of 19 and 24. The new striker may cost around thirty to forty million euros. The Bundesliga club would prefer a ‘bargain’ such as Haaland, who was taken over from Red Bull Salzburg for twenty million euros and according to Transfermarkt worth 130 million euros.

The 23-year-old Dolberg is one of the strikers who Sports1 associated with Dortmund. He made the switch from Ajax to OGC Nice in 2019 for 20.5 million euros and would now be worth 22 million euros. His teammate Amine Gouiri is also closely watched by the Dortmund scouts. Another player who is considered a possible successor to Haaland is 25-year-old Anthony Martial.

Already unsure of a starting spot at Manchester United, Martial has fallen in the pecking order since Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival. His market value is €45 million and United would be willing to let him go with an offer of €50-55 million. Borussia Dortmund, which was also interested in Martial in 2018, is not planning to spend that much money, it sounds like.
