Bologna does not intend to play the home game with Internazionale on Thursday afternoon. The selection of trainer Sinisa Mihajlovic is struggling with eight corona infections, but has not yet received the green light from the Serie A for an official cancellation. For now, Inter has just started the warm-up in the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

The local health service of Bologna (the ASL) already announced on Wednesday through director Paolo Bordon that it was working on a game ban. “The public health department is in the process of drafting a provision stating that these are not circumstances to play under.” Sydney van Hooijdonk, among others, belongs to the group that is struggling with a corona infection, Jerdy Schouten is missing with an injury; Mitchell Dijks is just part of the selection.

Inter is ‘only’ struggling with three infections and can take action in Bologna according to the current corona protocol. The leader of the Serie A therefore entered the stadium field for the warm-up completely according to plan, reported DAZNjournalist Alessio De Giuseppe. Sporting director of Inter Giuseppe Marotta did say that a new protocol is being worked on urgently, but expresses his dissatisfaction with the lack of clarity. “The championship has been compromised. Bologna had to make a decision, but we were ready to play. There is an emergency situation and there is a lack of clarity. Organizations need to define the application of the protocol to avoid such situations.”

Serie A has yet to make an official statement. Not one match in the competition has been canceled for the time being, despite more than seventy corona infections in total. Juventus – Napoli, among others, who play against each other at 6.45 pm, would be at risk due to an outbreak at the latter.
