Besiktas sends Fernando Santos packing after just 3 months
Besiktas has fired coach Fernando Santos. The former national coach of Portugal and Poland was appointed to the Turkish club at the beginning of January, but they have seen enough after more than three months. The team is having a disappointing season and is currently in fourth place. On Saturday there was a draw against Samsunspor, which was the last straw for the club management.
Previously, Santos was national coach at Poland. He lasted only six games there. He achieved his greatest success in his coaching career with Portugal, with whom he became European champion in 2016. Three years later he also won the Nations League with that country, by beating the Dutch team in the final.
TOP Oss and Ruud Brood split up after this season
Ruud Brood will no longer be the head coach of TOP Oss next season, the current number seventeen of the Kitchen Champion Division announced via official channels. Technical director Linton Posthumus has chosen not to extend the contract of the 61-year-old coach.
In the TOP Oss press release, Posthumus expresses his support for Brood. “With his extensive experience and qualities, Ruud Brood has laid a good foundation on which we as a club can continue to build. His contribution to the professionalization of our organization has made TOP Oss stronger.”
Dirk Proper back in NEC's match selection
