Real Madrid convincingly recovered from the defeat against Getafe on Saturday evening. Carlo Ancelotti’s team had few problems with Valencia, which was set aside thanks to two goals from both Karim Benzema and Vinicius Júnior: 4-1. Benzema thus scored seventeen goals this season in LaLiga, his Brazilian teammate at twelve. With that stand the stars of the Royal together at the top of the top scorers list. League-leader Real comes on eight points from Sevilla, which still has two duels left. Valencia remains in the middle bracket in place nine.

At Real, Vinicius returned from a corona infection in the place of Eden Hazard, who moved to the reserve bench. Valencia came to the Santiago Bernabéu with clear defensive intentions and left the initiative the Royal. Jasper Cillessen saved in the opening phase on a threatening header from Éder Militão, but for the rest Real initially failed to find openings.

However, Valencia had to allow more and more opportunities as the first half progressed. The best was for Luka Modric, who dribbled into the penalty area and hit the crossbar hard with the left. Two minutes before half time, Casemiro was tapped by Mouctar Diakhaby after a hood movement, for which Real received a penalty. He was placed impeccably in the intersection by Benzema, who left Cillessen without a chance: 1-0.

Seven minutes after the break, Real doubled the score via Vinícius, who luckily got the ball in front of the feet after one-two with Benzema in the crowds and tapped in from close range: 2-0. The decision came just nine minutes later. Marco Asensio’s shot was saved with difficulty by Cillessen, after which Vinícius used the rebound: 3-0. Valencia received a penalty out of nowhere fifteen minutes before the end, when Marcos André was pulled by the arm by Ferland Mendy. Thibaut Courtois managed to avoid Goncalo Guedes’ weak penalty, but was unable to prevent the Portuguese from heading in the post: 3-1. It didn’t hurt Real at all and two minutes before the end Benzema made it 4-1. The Frenchman managed to control a low ball in the penalty area, turned cleverly and found the corner.
