Joshua Kimmich remains loyal to Bayern Munich. The 26-year-old right back annex midfielder is with the German superpower with the new contract until mid-2025. Kimmich, who was taken over from RB Leipzig in 2015, had a contract in the Allianz Arena that runs until mid-2023 in the old situation. According to technical director Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern is sending a clear signal with the contract extension.

“The main reason for staying here longer is the fact that I can practice my passion here every day,” Kimmich said in a comment on his employer’s website. “With this team we can win everything and many teammates have now become friends. That is why I once started playing football, it should above all be fun. I am still developing myself as a football player and at Bayern a lot is possible in the coming years. In addition, my family really feels at home here in Munich, a combination that cannot be found anywhere in the world.”

“With this contract extension, Bayern is sending a clear signal both internally and externally,” Salihamidzic said in a statement. “We would like to keep our players for the long term. We are convinced that Joshua will continue to develop in the coming years as one of the leaders of Bayern. He is a world class player with a great mentality. As a footballer and as a person he symbolizes what Bayern is known for,” concludes the Bayern director.

Kimmich has made 264 appearances (30 goals) in the Bayern shirt in the past six years. The absolute highlight came in 2020 with winning the Champions League. In addition, the trophy cabinet of the 59-time international of Germany was supplemented with six national titles, three national cups, the World Cup for club teams, the European Supercup and four times the German Supercup.
