Barcelona plans to end its partnership with Yusuf Demir on Monday, reports said Sport. The Spanish club wants to reduce salary costs as soon as possible and create room in the selection for possible acquisitions in January. Barcelona also intends to officially make Gavi or Nico, who broke through under Ronald Koeman and Xavi, part of the A-selection, including a salary increase. Demir is the first player in the Operacion Salida, the big cleanup, which is about to leave the ranks of Barcelona.
Eighteen-year-old Demir was taken over from Rapid Wien on a rental basis last summer. After at least ten official duels in the first, Barcelona was contractually obliged to transfer an amount of ten million euros to the Austrians and the club cannot afford such an expense. The Austro-Turkish attacker is on nine games, without goals or assists, and it will stay that way.
Demir recently played in the lost match for the Maradona Cup against Boca Juniors (1-1, loss after penalties). Friendly duels do not count in the determination of the option to buy. Barcelona did not expect that Demir would be close to ten matches after a few months, as he would join the selection of Barcelona B. Sport writes that after his departure from Barcelona, Demir will be immediately rented or sold by Rapid Wien. Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested. The latter club was already interested in the attacker last summer, but at the time preferred a move to Catalonia.
